The Chres Village School & Orphanage (in the Siem Reap Province, Cambodia) is run by a Khmer family that takes care of 49 orphans and offers free language classes for over 400 children from poor families from the surrounding villages. In autumn 2008 we worked here for two months and in summer 2009 during four months as volunteers, teaching the children, playing with them and locking them in our hearts.
We stayed 3 weeks in Dali (China) at the Jade Emu Guesthouse and just loved this place. The hosts Dave (Australia) and Song (China) have created the nicest „home away from home“, with really friendly staff, the most comfortable beds, very clean rooms and a beautiful yard. Go to Dali and stay at the Jade Emu. You won‘t ever want to leave again.
We recommend you this site when looking for a hostel in the Ukraine because it‘s always up-to-date. Here you‘ll also find the „TIU Chernivtsi Backpack“, which is located in the center and you‘ll surely have a great time with the hosts Marcus & Paul.
Monika Zavoianu is the wonderful hostess of the „High Class Hostel“ in Suceava. This hostel alone is worth a trip to Romania. The welcome is warm, the food is fantastic and Monika is a great guide to the surrounding monasteries.
We were really happy to meet Catalin D. Florescu who is a very interesting man and writes wonderful books. Being Romanian himself he was able to give away his personal country highlights. Thanx!
With GUSReisen we‘ve found a partner who gave us great advice for the Ukraine and with Knop-Reisen put an interesting program together for our Trans-Siberia and Trans-Mongolia route. Thank you Stephan and Doris for your support, the procurement of the host families and for your visa support.
